Biography

Ira Prohorova (b. 1990, Yekaterinburg, Russia) is a Tel Aviv-based multidisciplinary artist.

She began as a self-taught portrait photographer at age of 20 and later expanded into video, sculpture, installation, painting, and sound. In 2015 she immigrated to Israel and in 2024 completed her BEdFA with honors at Seminar Hakibbutzim, including an exchange semester at Kunsthochschule Kassel (Germany).

Her work has been shown in Israel and Germany, including the Edmond de Rothschild Center, Institut Français, Mimikri gallery (solo, Kassel), and the Ausstellungshalle KhK.

She is a recipient of several grants, including the Excellence Award from the Israeli Ministry of Aliyah and Integration. She is a graduate of the Edmund de Rothschild Center's Professional training program (2024–2025 cohort), and a member of the Center’s artist alumni network.

Her practice explores the liminal space between personal memory and collective identity, with recurring themes of trauma, migration, and the fractured notion of home.
